This application is reference implementation of:

  • High performance certified compliant Web Map Service (WMS).
  • Requirements:

    * Eclipse (Indigo version & above)
    * JAVA Glassfish server - EE 6 SDK & above
    *Apache Maven 2.2.0 & above

    Designed for inter-operability, it publishes data from any major spatial data source using open standards.

    GeoNetwork is a standard based and decentralised spatial information management system, designed to enable access to geo-referenced databases & cartographic products from a variety of data providers through descriptive metadata, enhancing the spatial information exchange & sharing between organisations & their audience, using the power of the Internet.

    Background and evolution

  • The prototype of the GeoNetwork catalogue was developed by
    the Food and Agriculture organization of the United Nations (FAO) in 2001
    to systematically archive & publish the geographic datasets produced within the organization.
